Tech conferences are a fascinating showcase of new technologies and ways to see the world, as companies attempt to present their solutions to the problems that the feel that consumers have had during the year or will have the following cycle with the new advances in technology that they are launching. Apple is one of the many that does this annually, and holds a specific convention, the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) from June 9-13 at Apple Park (California, USA). This year Artificial intelligence will play a very important role in this long awaited conference.
While we already have an agenda and some of the topics that will be covered at the conference, this serves to get everyone excited and to help journalists and other attendees to get their questions and concerns in order before the start of the process, there is also a lot that we do not know about the scheduled announcements.
It is expected that we will see announcements pertaining to the iOS 19, iPadOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, tvOS 19, visionOS 3, as well as other software updates. We know that Siri will also play a very important role, as the virtual assistant is changing a fair amount this year, and we also know that the company will cover some of the Artificial Intelligence upgrades that they have integrated into their products as well as some that are coming soon.
This is the most exciting part for many, as Artificial Intelligence has taken the world by storm this year and it seems like every time we blink there is a new improvement. But what if the new improvement solved a problem that has been going on since the advent of the handheld devices?
Apple Intelligence will help each user save battery life.
One of the main problem that every single device has had since their inception is the battery life that they come with. Since the first portable phone to laptops to every single piece of tech in between, the frequency of charge and the duration of batteries has always been a problem. For years, companies have been focused on making these batteries more efficient and hold more charge, but it seems like every time they do this and manage to improve on the design and capacity, there comes a new app that just drains the entire juice in less than two hours.
This is extremely frustrating for tech companies like Apple, as it seems like they can never improve on the user experience enough to stave off complaints. But now the company is thinking about using Artificial intelligence to solve the issue, and it might actually work.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is preparing to introduce a feature that optimizes battery usage by adapting to each user’s habits. The system would monitor how devices are typically used and adjust power consumption in real time, prioritizing efficiency by restricting app activity when necessary. This functionality reportedly leverages machine learning, trained on vast data collected from Apple’s user base, to make personalized adjustments, and while specifics remain limited, the feature is expected to debut at WWDC 2025.
Despite this being one of the more interesting developments that the company could talk about, experts are not expecting Apple to focus a lot of time at eh conference on their Apple Intelligence initiatives (Apple Intelligence being the part of the company focused on general Artificial Intelligence). They are instead expected to discuss other new developments based more on operating systems and new upgrades in already existing devices, rather than announcing new avenues of business. Although, Apple did announce that they will be making video games and have bought a studio to design them, so that could be one of the more prominently featured topics.
