One of the main reasons Americans like Costco is because of the unexpected perks that a membership with them can bring. Because the company has grown so big and so steadily, never biting more than they could chew, their reputation has remained stellar through the years which ahs made many companies want to partner with them just to add to their client base and profit off Costco’s reputation. But that does not mean customers and Costco get nothing in return, the warehouse gets more reasons to entice customers and customers get amazing deals in return.

The latest partnership is a bit unexpected, but for those that are looking to switch phone carriers and want a bit of an extra guarantee (people have their preferences, but in general we can all agree that most phone companies are not great and have a lot of issues with customer retention for a reason), Costco has decided to partner with T-Mobile, and in their July 2025 Coupon Book they are offering a 450 incentive for members who move over to T-Mobile and sign up for one of its Experience More or Experience Beyond plans.

Costco’s new offer in partnership with T-Mobile

Their offer is very good, and it is clearly aimed at getting people to change their cell-phone carriers. The perks are as follows: if you are coming from AT\&T, Verizon, Xfinity, Spectrum, USCellular, Claro, or Liberty Puerto Rico and decide to make the switch, you will receive a $200 Costco shopping card and a $250 virtual prepaid Visa card.

Of course, this does mean that you will need to change carriers and likely buy a new phone, but if you were already unhappy and looking to change, the $450 sure does take away the sting of the expense. Plus, as long as you do not choose the latest model, you should still come up ahead, as you will be getting a newer phone which should work better plus a few dollars to shop at your favorite retailer.

The deal will be available from June 18 through July 20, and for those who need a little more convincing, if you are bringing the whole family or more than one line over to T-Mobile, the promotion can be stacked until you reach 12 of each card. And yes, that does mean that you can get 12 of those $200 Costco cards and up to four $250 Visa cards if you add 12 lines to your T-Mobile account.

Many will be left wondering why this offer is in partnership with T-Mobile, since they have not been having the best year after increasing their prices. Well, that is precisely the reason why. They have been losing customers due to the prices and need to generate more revenue to keep being profitable. According to company data from their Q1 2025 earnings report, a lot of people have been cancelling service, 5 basis points higher than the same time last year. And while T-Mobile still managed to bring in 495,000 new postpaid users that is  6% less than they managed during the same stretch in 2024.

The competition is steep, cable companies have been quietly stealing the spotlight in the mobile market and Spectrum, Comcast, and Altice USA collectively added 886,000 new mobile customers in Q1 of 2025, making them a direct competitor for telephone companies.

Since Costco is doing so well, as of the first quarter, they had 78.4 million paid members, up 6.8% from last year, partnering with them is a smart move that could allow the telephone company to get a new wave of customers and wow them with service so that they will stick around once the promo ends and the service contract expires.
