Disney+, Hulu and ESPN streaming subscriptions are all affected by Disney’s latest price raise in the U.S.
The majority of subscription choices will see some changes beginning in October 21, 2025. The monthly price of either Disney+ or Hulu increase from $9.99 to $11.99 each. The ad-supported Disney+ + Hulu combo now will be $12.99 instead of $10.99.
The Trio Basic pack, which includes Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN with advertisements, Disney+ plan Premium and the ad-free Trio Premium, they’re all changing prices. To put things in context, The Walt Disney Company has raised the price of Disney+ multiple times since launching it at $6.99 in 2019, so it’s not new. But they’re not the only ones, their competitors like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have done it too.
What’s changing and how much you’ll pay
These are the biggest adjustments for U.S. membership fees:
-
Disney+ (only): $9.99 → $11.99
-
Hulu (only): $9.99 → $11.99
-
Disney+ + Hulu pack (with ads): $10.99 → $12.99
-
Trio Basic (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN with ads): $16.99 → $19.99
-
Disney+ plan Premium (ad-free): $15.99 → $18.99
-
Hulu (ad-free): $18.99 (no change)
-
Disney+ + Hulu pack (ad-free): $19.99 (no change).
-
Trio Premium (Disney+, Hulu, ESPN no ads): $26.99 → $29.99
On October 21, 2025, these modifications will take place. The ad-free Disney+ and Hulu combo, which is still available for $19.99 a month, is obviously what the House of Mouse wants you to think about because while a number of other possibilities increase, that frozen pricing stands out.
Now families have to choose between preferring the smoother, ad-free experience but paying a bit more or putting up with advertisements and spending less.
Why costs are constantly going up (and how to pick a plan)
Disney+ has added a ton of series, films, and features since 2019, and the price have been going up annually. It began at $6.99 in 2019, increased to $7.99 in 2021, added tiers and higher ad-free pricing in 2022, increased again in October 2023 and October 2024, and then made its most recent changes in October 2025. Competitors in the streaming space are all making moves to fit in this economy, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, have either changed packages, added ad tiers, or raised costs.
So how do you pick?
-
The combo set with ads is still cheaper than purchasing each app separately if you enjoy Disney and Hulu but don’t mind commercials.
-
At $19.99, the Disney+ + Hulu ad-free bundle is now the best option if you really can’t deal with ads.
-
Trio Basic and Trio Premium, which both increased by $3, may be options for sports lovers who want everything to be in one place.
-
One subscription may be sufficient if you only use one service on occasion, and you can pause whenever you need a break.
What this means for your budget
The bottom line for streaming in the U.S. is that, like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, Disney, Hulu, and ESPN+ all contribute to the trend that more content typically translates to more expensive memberships. It is smart to verify what you actually watch and match it with the appropriate package, like the plan Premium, or ads options before the price goes up in October 2025.
The ad-free Disney+ + Hulu package, which is available for $19.99, might be the best deal if you’re a huge fan of Marvel, Star Wars, FX, and Disney animation. If you’re on a tight budget, the ad-supported alternatives still provide a lot of content for less money.
And if you want everything on the menu without bleeding out your wallet, sharing your account with the people you live (couples, roommates) could be a great solution. It will split the burden in two, or more, and everyone get a full access with no ads and they’re favorite programs.
Ultimately, there is not a single “best” subscription, just the one that works better for you.
