Goodbye to Winn-Dixie in several states—the historic supermarket chain is restructuring and changing its name

Target keeps on growing, and now, they have announced a retail expansion from coast to coast in the U.S. New stores will open in over 20 states, including Florida, Texas, New York, Georgia, North Carolina, Nebraska, Massachusetts, Arizona and California, according to leaders.

Walmart and other department stores compete with the move, although in-store partners like Apple, CVS Pharmacy, and Starbucks still contribute to the attraction at some sites. Convenience is prioritized in this retail development, which follows Target Corporation’s recent pattern of launching in various seasons and geographical areas. “There’s a Target store within 10 miles of most doorsteps in America — and we’re not done yet!” the company said.

They want to increase the number of communities with a local store, improve service consistency, and increase the number of reasons to make quick stops on the way to work or school. Even though not every schedule is available to the public, executives emphasized that teams are constantly thinking about new locations. Over 20 states are covered, with specific locations mentioned, a number of stores are currently accessible to the general public.

Target’s latest openings

Target provided a detailed description of the areas where the expansion is taking place. Twenty-one states, including Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York, have openings scheduled. The company says it plans to open six more outlets in Florida. There will be two locations in Arizona, four in North Carolina, and five in Texas.

Part of the consistent progress are the recent opening of five additional outlets on October 12 and two more on October 19. The public can now visit locations in Wesley Chapel, Florida, and Queen Creek Gantzel, Arizona. Target’s third location in the Sunshine State is Wesley Chapel Grove. With spots like an Apple at Target, a CVS Pharmacy, and a Starbucks café, the in-store combination is still recognizable in a few locations.

Indian Land, South Carolina, and Grand Island, Nebraska, are two more recent openings. On October 19, two stores in Stafford, Texas, and Fresno, California, opened.

Stores in Prasada Village, Arizona, and South Lake Tahoe launched in April, while more sites opened in Astoria, York, and Jurupa Valley, California, in July and August of this year.

Where will the new stores be?

To illustrate the scale of the project, Target addressed an enormous amount of communities:

  • Arizona: Buckeye; Mesa Far E
  • California: Bakersfield; Perris
  • Colorado: Denver Green Valley Ranch; Firestone
  • Florida: Bradenton Heritage Harbor; Clearwater Countryside; Cypress Creek Station; Lake Nona; Trailwinds Village; Winter Haven
  • Georgia: Covington Alcovy Road
  • Idaho: Pocatello Chubbuck
  • Kentucky: Frankfort
  • Ohio: Lima Mall
  • Pennsylvania: Hermitage
  • Massachusetts: Springfield
  • Missouri: Springfield; University City
  • Mississippi: Tupelo
  • North Carolina: Fuquay-Varina; Mebane; Myrtle Grove; Selma
  • New Jersey: West Orange
  • New York: Bridgehampton
  • South Carolina: Lexington Augusta Hwy; Seneca
  • South Dakota: Brookings
  • Texas: Dallas – Wynnewood Village; Forney; Fort Worth; Katy Heritage; Little Elm
  • Utah: Herriman; Lehi; Logan
  • Virginia: Norfolk Wards Corner
  • Wisconsin: Brown Deer

These locations provide access to expanding suburbs from coastal metropolitan cities. More than 75% of Americans reside within 10 miles of a Target store, and the firm is “always considering new sites” as it reviews community fit and demand.

Going for the bigger scale

More local shops, well-known services, and simpler trips for routine purchases.

While Walmart has more than 4,000 stores countrywide, Target claims to have around 2,000 locations and over 400,000 employees. And progress is continuing, as seen by several openings in October as well as spring and summer additions in Arizona, California, and New York.

If you want to know more information about the new openings, you can look for local signs and community updates, even if officials haven’t disclosed full timelines for every site.
