Tomomi Ishimura, personal coach and Yoga teacher created a method that she called Zero Training, and is now becoming really popular. Her system, a Japanese technique, teach you to burn fat and loose weight with little—but daily—exercise by transforming your posture, modelling your body, getting rid of the belly and, most importantly, giving you physical and mental well-being.
Her book “The Zero Training method: Get a slender figure in just 5 minutes a day” became a bestseller in Japan, and the method has millions of followers around the world.
What’s behind the method
Tomomi explains that recovering that “zero position” helps the body to work lightly and reduces tension because is allows a better circulation. Bad postural habits are quite often, but when the body is not aligned, the movements are less efficient to burn fat, and there’s more chance of having muscular pain or fatigue.
Zero training is an alternative for those train but are not losing weight or those who feel the body constantly bloated and rigid. For Tomomi Ishimura, the secret is giving the body a natural posture, which stylize the silhouette and makes the body use less energy overall.
Zero Training: 6 Exercises, results in 4 weeks
The method uses only body weight—no need for external loads—and conscious breathing. Stretching and reinforcing are combined on the program of 6 exercises, and all of them you do laying on your back; which makes it possible for anyone to practice it even if they are really tired.
Tomomi, explains that when you release the joints and then tighten the muscles, the abdomen work better and deeper; boosting fat loss and correcting posture. But, there’s more: Zero Training has another focus as well, “postura cero de la mente”, which is a side focused more on the mind where you try to reach a calm state that reduces stress and anxiety.
The secret of Zero Training to lose weight in 4 weeks
To practice this Japanese method you only need: 1 mat, 3 large towels and 5 or 6 books. With this material you can create a support so that the body is placed in the correct alignment while you’re stretching. Here’s the recipe for one of Tomomi’s famous exercises:
Basic posture + “Zero Breathing”
The objective is opening chest and shoulders with only gravity and train the expansion and closure of the ribs with breathing techniques.
What do you need? A few books and 3 towels.
Placement for the base posture:
- Make a “ladder” with the books: a higher pile and a lower one.
- Place 3 rolled towels in the shape of a cylinder vertically on that ladder (aligned along the column).
- Sit with your glutes stuck to the lower part and lie on your back, bringing your head to the highest, and most comfortable part.
- Flexed knees and feet on floor (they have to have a support).
The “Zero breathing”:
- Put your hands on the ribs (the side area of the chest).
- Inhale through the nose for 3 seconds.
- Exhale through the mouth for 7 seconds, slowly, and until you empty all of it.
- Repeat 5-10 cycles.
Tips to make it like a pro:
Imagine the ribs “like a balloon that expands” to the sides, when you’re inhaling; and, when exhaling, they have to “close”. Then, when you’re exhaling, avoid blowing like “fuuu”; the idea is a soft “haa…”.
Typical mistakes:
- Raising shoulders towards the ears.
- Inflating only belly and not moving the ribs.
Easy to find, easier to practice
Tomomi teaches this method in his New York center and also through classes that you can find on YouTube or in her book, this makes the access to millions of people worldwide that are looking for a way to lose weight with a short, simple and very effective plan.
