Joint pain is one of those ailments that has gone underrepresented for years. To a point we have all gotten used to living with low levels of pain in our ligaments given our sedentary lifestyle, the use of computers that keeps us sitting down and typing and the harshness of the pavement underneath our shoes which more often than not are not appropriate for the ground we walk on. But we do usually associate this type of pain with the elderly, and we tend to forget that taking care of our bodies is important at any age, and we might have an all-natural solution that helps everyone, young or old, to improve their ligaments and avoid joint pain.
The natural remedy that will help strengthen your ligaments
While there is no secret sauce, for now, there are plenty of foods that have anti inflammatory properties that help alleviate joint pain without us even noticing. As an additional benefit to most of these foods, they are part of a healthy diet and are a good addition to our life whether or not we are hurting. What we recommend is that you drink these ingredients in a smoothie, as this will make it quicker and easier for your body to digest and get the all-important nutrients and relief that we are looking for.
The ingredients that we are going to need are:
- Pineapple: Rich in bromelain, an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties that helps reduce inflammation in the joints. Try to use fresh pineapple when you can as it contains less sugar than preserved ones.
- Oats: Contain avenanthramides, antioxidant compounds that protect the joints, and are also a rich source of fiber that contributes to overall body health.
- Sweet almonds: An excellent source of healthy fatty acids and vitamin E, which are essential for maintaining joint elasticity and lubrication.
- Organic honey: Offers anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, helping to reduce joint pain and promote cell regeneration. You can choose whatever flavor you prefer, just make sure it goes with the pineapple!
- Cinnamon powder: Known for its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, cinnamon also improves blood circulation in affected areas.
These are all easy to find ingredients that taste good and can help, but the recipe is not just as easy as combining them in a blender. It takes a bit more effort than that, but we promise that it really is worth it.
- Cook the oats for 10 minutes following the recipe in the carton and then let them cool. You can cook them in water or milk, that will depend on your preference.
- In a blender, add two cups of diced pineapple, 1 cup of cooked oats, eight ounces of chopped sweet almonds, 1 tablespoon of organic honey, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- For more flavor, add 1 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice and up to 8 ounces of water to achieve the desired texture.
- Blend everything at high speed until you get a smooth and homogeneous mixture. If needed, adjust the amount of water or orange juice to get your preferred consistency.
While drinking this smoothie will not solve all your problems, doing so a few times a week will help with inflammation. Because there is nothing harmful in it, you can have it every day and even add other ingredients like greens to get even more anti-oxidants to your diet and improve your health in other ways. If your pain is persistent, go to your doctor’s office and get assessed, as living with pain is not good for you and the more you let it go the worse it will get and the harder it will be to treat.
