There are many retail chains in the US and each one has been able to create its own personal brand and lore to appeal to certain demographics. Perhaps one of the best known retailers in the age of Social Media is Target, as the red giant has been able to attract a lot of customers thanks to its décor and clothing sections, which rotate products and are always on trend. While most retail chains are suffering and closing down locations due to the tariffs imposed by president Trump on Chinese goods, Target is seemingly choosing to go on the opposite direction and they are opening up eight new stores to serve their clientele, one of them in New York.
A direct competitor of Walmart, it has sometimes been accused of being the same retailer but with prettier aisles, and that may not be as unfair as it seems. Target has higher prices, and not all customers agree that the quality of the products is worth the markup, but their stores are known for being tidy, well organized, easy to navigate and clean.
Target is also known for offering modern, minimalist, and attractive products at reasonably affordable prices and for collaborating with renowned designers such as Isaac Mizrahi, Hunter, and Lilly Pulitzer, among others, which allow their customers to get the luxe look for less. But it is not just their physical presence that is appreciated by its shoppers.
The Target app is also very well regarded, as it is intuitive, offers personalized discounts with the Target Circle program, and allows for same-day pickup. It also offers up to 90 days for returns and up to one year if you purchased private-label products with your Target account and donates 5% of its profits to social, educational, and community causes. If this is important to you, the company has inclusion, sustainability, and equity programs that it has maintained thought the DEI disaster that has occurred in this presidency.
The new Target stores, opening dates and locations
While the eight Target stores that have been announced as opening soon are already impressive in this economy, what is even more impressive is that the company has announced plans to open 20 new stores this year alone, with all of them up and running by the new year. Some of the states that will get the most openings will be Florida and California.
But while this ambitious plan goes on in the background, the company is busy with their summer openings, as the eight announced stores will be set up and operational by August. The plans are for these stores to be located in six different states, but they will not be entirely new locations for the company, as they have done a lot of market research to ensure that the new locations will be opened in places where the brand is already very popular, and interest is so high that it was urged to open more stores.
The first store of this new batch that will receive customers will be the one that is planned for New York city, and it will be located in the Queen Astoria neighborhood. The retail space will open on July 20th and will have over 40,000 square feet of space. While we still do not have concrete dates and addresses of the rest of the stores, we do have their general location and the state that will house them, so the rest of the stores will be located in:
- Florida: Bradenton Heritage Harbor / Wildwood
- New Jersey: Flemington
- Pennsylvania: West Ghoshen
- Connecticut: Guilford / Norwalk Avenue, Connecticut
- California: Jurupa Valley
