Some people believe that if the last months has been feeling too long or slow, full of stumbles and bad vibes: you might need to say goodbye to the year is with an energy cleansing. This is what Triana Fernández, “Your friend of energies and crystals,” as she calls herself on TikTok. In one of her latest videos, she tells that 2025 “has been a torture” and that she wouldn’t think about starting the new year 2026 without making a deep cleaning first.
But before that, she invites the community in social media to do a little test, just to check if your really need it: a glass of water and oil ritual to detect if you have caught the evil eye o have negative energy around you.
A homemade test with only water and oil
In her video, @tritri_fdez explains that this test only needs two ingredients from that most of us have in the kitchen: a glass of water, and a little bit of oil. You don’t need any specific type or brand, use what you have. According to Fernández, this ritual helps to let you know if someone has given you the “evil eye,” or if what’s been affecting you lately is because you have bad energy around you.
How to do the ritual?
- Fill a glass with water
- Take one hair of your head or use your right hand index finger, to leave three drops of oil fall into the water
After you have done this, just leave the glass wait for a minute without moving it and watch what happens with this drops. You don’t need music or candles, or dance around it, I mean, maybe you could while you wait, but it’s actually pretty quick, and the focus is mainly on the little drops.
What do the drops “say” about the evil eye?
The content creator explains that the ways the drops behave one the water it’s what would tell the result of the test:
- If the drops stay separated among them, you can breath, everything is okay with your vibes, you might not even need that cleansing after all.
- If the drops sink into the bottom of the glass, according to Triana, that means that unfortunately you have gotten the evil eye.
- If the three drops join together becoming one, while floating on the water, that’s the signal that someone could be very envy of you and sending you really bad energies.
In the video, Fernández does the test herself to see if she has to do an energy cleansing herself. She shows how to add the drops and then waits for a few seconds before showing to result at the camera: in her case the drops ended up joining.
Her reaction to this though was funny: “my drops have joint together… damn it!” With that phrase she mixes humor and resignation, and somehow showing that this little gesture is not supposed to be a scary thing.
Humor, calm and modern spirituality
What Triana Fernández proposes is understood as a symbolic mini routine within a modern spirituality that’s very typical of social media. You don’t need to believe a 100% on evil eyes or bad energies, but it is fun to do. I couldn’t resist it myself, and newsflash: I won’t be needing a deep cleansing this year. But I might still go around the house with spreading Palo Santo, just in case.
