In the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia, a couple has purchased an old property. Their initial goal was to rebuild and restore a 120-year-old cabin. They have posted all of this work on TikTok on their profile: @pineyforkhomestead. However, everything takes a turn when they find a mysterious container. They found everything in the container… even a large snake! Their new plan is to build a greenhouse while carrying out their plan to renovate rural houses in the forest. What you do not expect when you acquire a new property
You buy a new property and as soon as your arrival at the destination you discover something you did not expect. This occured to a family in the middle of the forest. Anna Miller and Brook, a couple from Northern California, got a house in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia.
They had both been having in mind for some time about getting a house away from the noise and hurry life of the city.
“We bought this property in the hope that one day our children can inherit it.”
Within the grounds, there is a cabin built about 120 years ago that they want to fix up it. The property, as is normal, was in poor state and neglected, as it had been years since anyone lived there.
“The fields were overgrown with weeds taller than us, some over six feet tall,” the wife explains. By the time they removed much of the weeds they found something unreal: a giant container. Miller quickly uploaded this find to his Tik Tok account (@pineyforkhomestead) in a video that went viral.
Curious TikTok users: what is behind the discovery
TikTok users were incredibly curious about the discovery, with Miller’s original video racking up more than 215,000 likes and 7 million views since being posted on July 2, one demanding: “You gotta show us what is in there.”
“What’s inside? I want to know,” another pleaded, as another worried: “Girl nothing good comes outta shipping container in the WOODS.”
On their account, they share content about the renovations of the cabin
A bog container was standing there in the middle of the forest, between weeds and trees. In the video you can see how they are accompanied by their two children to investigate the environment in which their future home will be. It was a shipping container.
In the middle weeds and bushes, they were able to open the container. On the inside were many windows, doors and moldings from the old cabin, as well as a Christmas tree and a meter-long snake skin.
Miller separated the video into two parts to generate expectation among his followers after the find was well received. Followers were sad, as they expected that inside there would be some kind of mysterious or dangerous material.
“We plan to use the beautiful old windows to build a greenhouse and hopefully we can reintroduce some of the original moldings and details into the cabin,” Miller concluded
Other example of house with interesting background that goes viral
A couple is documenting their return to their hometown, where they’ve turned a schoolhouse into the perfect home for their family of four.
After both growing up in Franklin, Ind., Stacie and her husband Sean, found across social media @schoolhousehomestead, moved to New York City in 2012, living there for 10 years before coming back home.
“When the pandemic hit, my husband was working in hospitals in The Bronx and it was just like a really intense time. Then we had our son and I was like, ‘You know what? I want to move back to our hometown.’ While we were talking about it, the house came up,” Stacie explains.
“We both remember driving by the school when we were growing up. It was just like something where you look out the window as a kid and just wonder, ‘Who gets to live there?’ It just so happened that it went for sale right when we were serious about looking for houses — that’s kind of how we found it.”
The project would be a big undertaking and, to a degree, a leap of faith. Stacie and Sean were still on the East Coast when they were considering the purchase, relying on the help of her parents to look at the building and assess.
